Known for their beauty, the Mexican Red Knee Tarantula is the “GO TO” tarantula for movies. But, they aren’t solely known for just beauty. They are equally interesting. They most commonly have dark brown body and legs. At fully grown they are about 5-6 inches with their leg span. They have spotting of orange almost red on the leg joints. Like all Tarantulas their throw hair from their back. Though they are venemous they are docile. That is why it is a common tarantulas to have in a home. They don’t require much. In fact they are a very low maintenance. The females are known for living anywhere from 25-30 years. Where as the males live up to one year after maturity. Which is about four years of age to five years. So, if you are looking for a “starter tarantula” the Mexican Red Knee is your best bet!
